Pennsylvania Longbow Association Meeting Minutes

June 6, 2026

Lycoming Creek Sportsman/Sheshequin Buckskinnners (Marsh Hill)

Call to Order: President Gary Dickey called the meeting to order at 11:05 am. Group recited pledge of allegiance.

Roll Call: Officers present: President-Gary Dickey, Vice President- Jeff Stahler, Treasurer- Morgan Slowik, Secretary- Rob Wallace. Membership Secretary Elsa Zumstein was not present. There were 28 other members in attendance, including regional directors Bill Fink and Jim Uschak, and former President Scott Slowik.

Previous Meeting Minutes: Secretary Rob Wallace read meetings from Previous Meeting which took place April 11, 2026 at Shade Mountain. Motion to accept the minutes made by: Karen Sands Seconded by: Tim Burris Accepted without dissent.

Treasurer Report: Treasurer Morgan Slowik delivered the Treasurer’s Report. Treasurer reports PLA is in a sound financial position.

Balances are:

Savings: $16,613.36

Checking: $4,879.10

CDs: $4,169.89

Total: $25,662.35

Old Business:

Bess Criswell raised question regarding a status update on reincorporation question from last year. Treasurer Slowik indicated that she has been working with an attorney to clear up the lapse in status. She noted the lawyer requested four years of financials, and that the process will take roughly three more months.

New Business:

Vice President Jeff Stahler made the club aware that the Association was approached by Blue Ridge Archery Club of Saylorsburg, PA. They are considering dissolution of the club in the next few years, and raised the possibility of transferring their assets to the Association. Stahler introduced Blue Ridge’s Ken Ejk to the attending members.

Ken Ejk provided some background about Blue Ridge’s history, and current situation. They were founded in 1965. Membership has waned through the years, they currently have about 20-25 members, and about 3 who do the lion’s share of the upkeep.  Per their charter, if the club were to decide to dissolve, there are only three options for the dispersal of club property, their preferred solution is for the assets to transfer to another like-minded organization.

The membership asked questions regarding the club and their assets including:

Carol Covington asked about the club’s expenditures. Ejk indicated he had shared that info with the officers. For 2025, their expenditures were roughly $4600 and their income was roughly $2100. Exact numbers were sent to PLA officers by Ejk after the meeting.

The question was asked about any existing liens or other financial obligations, Ejk responded that the property was free of liens or outstanding financial obligations.

Bess Criswell asked if the property had any additional revenue from the gas pipeline, Ejk indicated it does not.

Other topics addressed were:

Carol Covington asked about Blue Ridge’s current efforts to promote their club/shoots. Ken indicated that none of the active members use social media, so his daughter posts occasionally on the club’s Facebook page for him. Additionally, Rob Wallace has started an Instagram account for Blue Ridge to help get the word out.

Question was raised about the impact of the potential transfer of assets to the Association’s tax burden/non profit status. Treasurer Slowik offered that it would need to be looked at.

Paige Slowik thanked Ken for thinking of the Association.

Tim Burris praised Ken’s effort in keeping the club going for as long as it has.

A motion was made to further explore the situation and report findings to the membership. Motion made by Bob Klinger. Seconded by Nate Hoover. Motion passed with no dissent.

Bess Criswell requested the Meeting Minutes be more readily available to membership. Options discussed included printing them in the newsletter, or putting them on the website behind a password protected section. Secretary Wallace will look into creating a protected section and will communicate with Tim Burris to help get the word out to members.

Good of the Club:

Maureen Burris spoke to express the club’s appreciation for Bess Criswell, presenting her with a card and gift card. Bess indicated she loved every minute, will miss some parts more than others, will try be around as much as she can, and that there are those in the Association that are like family to her.

Upcoming Shoots: West Penn July 10-12  Hopewell August 14-16

Next Meeting, if following standard Association timelines, will be in February 2027.
